For Temporary Food Events (also known as Community Events), Temporary food event organizers that plan to have two or more vendors serve food to the public are subject to California Health & Safety Code requirements. If you have an upcoming event please contact our office at least 45 days in advance so we can post your event on the Temporary Food Events Calendar. The last day the event is posted on the Calendar is the last day we will take applications for a temporary food event. The latest we will take applications will be two weeks prior to the event start date for more information see FAQ's.

For clarification the following terms are defined as: 

A temporary food event is an event conducted for not more than 25 consecutive or nonconsecutive days in a 90-day period and that is of a civic, political, public, or educational nature, including state and county fairs, city festivals, circuses, and other public gathering events approved by the local enforcement agency.”

Food is defined as “…a raw, cooked, or processed edible substance, ice, beverage, an ingredient used or intended for use or for sale in whole or in part for human consumption, and chewing gum.”
